Best Answer

The force of compressing an object. A common example is a cement sample compression test. Cements best quality is its compressive strength. This is why it is used as a foundation for buildings. Anyways, the test is placing a cement cylinder at a certain size in a compression machine. It basically squeezes the cement or compresses the cement to the point of rupture. Then they record the amount a compressive force it took to rupture the cement sample. It has to meet a minimum standard to be accepted or they reject the product made from this batch.

A compressive force is a type of force that tends to decrease the volume of a material by squeezing or pushing it together. It is directed towards the center of the material and is opposite to tensile force. Compressive forces can cause materials to deform or buckle under pressure if they exceed the material's ability to withstand compression.

What is the difference between a compressive force and a compressive strength?

A compressive force is a type of external force that acts to compress or squeeze an object, while compressive strength is a material property that quantifies how much compressive force a material can withstand before it fails. Compressive force is the cause, while compressive strength is the measure of resistance.

What force is opposite to compressive force?

Tensile force is opposite to compressive force. Tensile force acts in the opposite direction, pulling or stretching an object apart, while compressive force pushes or squeezes the object together.

What quality of touch distinguishes types of compressive force as being light moderate varied or deep?

The depth and pressure applied during the compressive force determine whether it is light, moderate, varied, or deep. Light compressive force involves gentle pressure without sinking into the tissues, while deep compressive force penetrates deeper into the muscles creating more intense pressure. Moderate compressive force falls in between, and varied compressive force combines different levels of pressure throughout the massage.

What is the Difference between comprensinve force and tensile force?

Compressive force is a force that tends to compress or shorten an object, while tensile force is a force that tends to stretch or elongate an object. In other words, compressive force pushes inward on an object, while tensile force pulls outward on an object.

Is the force that squeezes and compresses.?

The force that squeezes and compresses is known as compressive force. It occurs when an object is being pressed or pushed together, reducing its volume or causing deformation. Compressive forces are common in structures, materials, and geological formations.

A mechanical force that is compressive in nature.

What is another word for weight pressure?

Compressive force.

What is Compressive Strength?

Compressive strength measures the largest compression force the material can withstand before it loses its shape or fails.

What is the difference between Crushing strength and compressive strength?

Crushing strength refers to the maximum force a material can withstand before failing under compressive loads, while compressive strength is the maximum compressive stress a material can withstand before failing. Essentially, crushing strength is more related to the actual force applied, while compressive strength is more related to stress levels within the material.
