Any adult male should be able to lift his own weight. 174 lb male should be able to lift 174 lbs.

This is one of the British Army standards of strength.

Athletic weight-lifters can lift as much as a quarter of a ton , say 600 lbs.

The average 175 lb man can typically deadlift around 200-300 lbs with proper training and technique. It's important to gradually increase the weight to avoid injury and build strength progressively. Individual capacity can vary based on factors like training experience, muscle mass, and genetics.

It depends. A 21 year-old former high school football player could probably deadlift 250-300. A 30 year old Systems Admin probably couldn't break 250. A 60 year old 175 lb man less than 150. I'm 22, weigh 170, and I max around 345-350 and I've been lifting for about 6 months if that helps.
