Meteors are pieces of rock, ice or other debris from outer space that fall into the earth's atmosphere. Meteorites are the remnants of those objects that manage to make it all the way to the earth's surface without burning up.

An asteroid moves through space by following its trajectory, which is influenced by the gravitational forces of nearby celestial bodies like planets and the Sun. Once set in motion, an asteroid continues on its path until another force, like a collision with another object or a change in gravitational pull, alters its course.

How asteroids travel is still unknown however theorys include the big bang theory. The Property of inertia is how they continue moving along with gravity. Gravity causes them to orbit around a central body similarly to the planets.

The asteroid has momentum. There is also gravity in space mainly because of the Sun in our part of space. That gravity deflects the asteroid's path.

The result is that the asteroid moves in an orbit around the Sun.

Meterorites don't move because they are meteors which have made it through the atmosphere and have arrived on the Earth's surface.

They do move on their way to museums but thereafter they don't move much at all.

Meteors are all in orbit round the Sun. Many meteors are grouped in orbits that intersect the Earth's orbit at the same point every year. So every year on certain dates we see meteor showers. When a meteor is large enough to last through its journey through the atmosphere without being completely vapourised, it becomes a meteorite, and then someone can go and pick it up.

Meteorites are rocks that have fallen from space, been heated to incandescence by crashing through the Earth's atmosphere, and have landed on the Earth. Meteorites can be carried around, or shipped by UPS or FedEx.

Back when they were meteorOIDS, they were just rocks falling freely through space under the influence of gravity. But once they become meteorITES, they are just rocks on the Earth.

the gravity from the sun pulls them along, sometimes causing them to hit planets or other types of debris.

They orbit the Sun in ellipses, similar to the planets.
