A theory typically explains why something happens by providing a comprehensive explanation based on existing evidence and principles. It may also outline how different variables interact to produce certain outcomes. The key distinction is that a theory seeks to generalize and predict phenomena based on underlying principles, while a hypothesis is a specific testable statement about the relationship between variables.

that isn't the definition of a theory

A theory in technical use is a more or less verified or established explanation accounting for known facts or phenomena

or is a statement that sums up a large range of hypothesis like the atomic theory

A theory is an idea that has not or can't be proven. Its an attempt to explain how something works, but it could be wrong.

add some theorems are pretty definitive, such as Pythagoras's Theorem regarding triangles. It can be proven to work EVERY time. Perhaps it should be called a LAW.

How would theory distinguish a scientific theory from a scientific law?

By not doing nothing

What is difference between a scientific theory and scientific law?

A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that is based on a body of evidence and has undergone rigorous testing and validation. A scientific law is a statement that describes a consistent and universal relationship observed in nature, typically expressed as a mathematical equation. While theories explain why something happens, laws describe what happens consistently under certain conditions.

Is the scientific law explain why something happens?

No, scientific laws describe what happens under certain conditions, based on repeated observations and experiments. They do not explain why things happen, but provide a framework for understanding and predicting natural phenomena.

What does it mean to explain the principle of something?

Explaining the principle of something involves clarifying the fundamental concept or theory that underlies it. It usually involves breaking down the key elements or rules that govern how something works or functions.

Why a theory can not turn into a law?

A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world based on a body of evidence and observations. Laws, on the other hand, are descriptions of natural phenomena that have been observed to occur consistently. A theory explains why something happens, while a law simply describes what happens. Thus, a theory cannot become a law because they serve different purposes within the scientific framework.

What is a set of tested hypotheses that attempts to explain why something happens?

The name in science is theory.

What explains why or how something happens?

it is a Theory! :)

What is a theory and law?

A scientific Theory is when it tries to explain something in an experiment that happens repededly in nature or the natural world. A scientific law is when there is repeated behavior in an experiment but cannot be explained.

What does a theory explain?

Your reason of choosing something

Definition of theory?

A theory is scientific proof of what or why something happens

What is the difference between science law and scientific theory?

A science law is a description or prediction of a behavior as a result of repeated observation or testing. It does not involve an explanation or cause of the behavior. A Scientific Theory is an attempt to explain why something happens.

What is difference between "Law" And "Theory"?

a law is something that is true and a theory is an opinion or thought that can be proven wrong.

Which of these is an explanation of how or why something happens based on scientific study?

theory A+ :D

True or false scientific laws explain why something happens?

false

What is body fitness?

a principle that tries to explain something that happens in nature

Why is theory important?

Theory provides a framework for organizing and understanding our observations and experiences. It helps to explain why things happen the way they do and can guide future research and application. Additionally, theory can lead to the development of new ideas, technologies, and practices.

How is law different from a theory?

A Theory is unproven, but Laws are proven. Theory becomes law after that theory is proven correct.
