Jean Nicolet's primary goals were to establish friendly relations with indigenous tribes in North America and to expand the fur trade for the French. His efforts led to increased trade and alliances with indigenous peoples in the Great Lakes region, contributing to the French colonial expansion in the area. So, in that sense, he can be considered successful in achieving his goals.
