Henry Condell was one of the actors in The King's Men, one of Shakespeare's closest friends and one of the two men who determined to publish all of Shakespeare's plays in one volume after he died.
William Shakespeare was born in April 1564 (actual date unknown, but his birthday is widely celebrated on April 23). He was baptized on April 26, 1564. His father was John Shakespeare, an alderman and a glove-maker. His mother was Mary Arden. John and Mary had eight children, of which William was the third. Hamnet and Judith Shakespeare, twins, and their older sister, Susanna, were William Shakespeare's children, by his wife, Ann Hathaway, who he married in 1582 when he was eighteen. Ann was aged 26, and was probably about three months pregnant with Susanna at their marriage. Henry Condell and John Herminges were friends of Shakespeare. Members of his acting company, the King's Men, they published the first collection of his plays. In his will, Shakespeare left money to them and to the leader of his acting company, Richard Burbage.
