the main idea of the theory of evolution is that every thing originated from one (or more) Common Ancestors, witch over time evolved- (advanced) in different ways, creating different modifications of one species, and that modification of the species will continue to evolve into multiple types and eventually become a new species .

this process takes thousands of years.

its like a tree, it starts off as one thing and starts to split off into multiple branches witch spit to more branches and so on.
