He thinks a just cause needs no oath to bind the doers to their cause
The lesson that's learned in the play 'Antigone' refers to the enforcement of laws. Generally, laws must be respected and enforced. But not all laws are good. Some may be counterproductive, inhumane, unfair and unjust. In such cases, enforcement ultimately recoils upon the doers of such injustice.
If he were to be alive today he would argue that evildoers are primarily influenced by their own free choice. Taking a took at Macbeth Act IV, the tragic hero chose to do evil things because (this is where the other factors of evil is influenced by) of his strong ambition. He wanted to become king and he wanted to have power, with his persistent wife he manages to kill. And that lead him to show his state of mind wanting to kill some more. But then of course you can also point to Richard III who is a horrible murdering monster because he is born deformed both in body and in mind. Based on this play, you might assume that Shakespeare would argue that genetics are the key factor. Or alternatively you could look at his play Coriolanus where Coriolanus's character, which is the ultimate source of his downfall, is primarily due to his upbringing by his domineering mother. So on the basis of Coriolanus, upbringing is what evil doers are primarily influenced by. In other words, it is hopeless trying to guess what Shakespeare really thought about anything on the basis of what happens in his plays. That is why we have no clue about Shakespeare's personal opinions.
Here are some: "So a little over a decade ago I'm sitting in Ms. North's fifth grade class ready to take on the world and Ms. North comes up to me and says, "Javon, what do you want to be when you grow up?" I looked her square in the eye and said, "When I grow up, I'm going to be a teenage mutant ninja turtle. And she starts looking at me a little weird and I say "No, no. F*** that! I remember you told me I could be anything that I want to be, so I'm gonna be the first black teenage mutant ninja turtle." It's obvious they aren't black. They say s*** like 'kowabunga' and 'dude'. And ill be named after a renaissance artist too, only I'll be Langston, the turtle with a pen. And I'll go around writing verbally violent poems about all the evil doers in the world. Like Shredder, the Rat King, and George W. Bush. So a little over a month ago, I'm back in Ms. North's fifth grade class and I'm lecturing kids about the importance of education, and this little kid who sort of reminds me of myself raises his hand and says, "So Mister, with all this education what have you become?" I looked him square in the eye and said, "I'm a f***ing teenage mutant ninja turtle… Only on Saturdays because every other day I am ruler of the universe simply on the grounds that I'm a writer, and it's my education that has advanced those abilities." You see, through my poetry I've written myself into worlds. I've made trade negotiations with both Castro and Saddam, made the U.S. live sanctions. And we never dropped bombs in places like Baghdad or Vietnam. You see, through my poetry, young mothers were never sad because they outlived their sons and guns never found their way to the hood and we replaced statements like 'it's all good' with revolutionary cries. Because sometimes, the s*** is all bad. See through my poetry, I've written myself into any world I please. I became ruler of the universe. I became the first black teenage mutant ninja turtle and I could always go back to elementary."
In "Be-ers and Doers" by Budge Wilson, the resolution occurs when Bridget realizes the importance of balance between her overachieving friend Judy, who is a "doer," and her more easygoing friend Maisie, who is a "be-er." Bridget learns to appreciate both approaches and finds her own unique way of being true to herself.
The setting of "Beers and Doers" takes place in a small, fictional town in the Midwest. The story unfolds primarily in a local bar where the characters gather to socialize and share their experiences.
