I think they're not acting like a coward because it's what they believe. They are just standing up for it.

I also think they're not because War isn't peace, it's violence and pacifists try to make people live in peace.

Depends..If they're perfectly capable of doing the opposite.In other words,if they could defeat the enemy without trying,but they choice pacifism because they believe that its the right thing to do.Then no,its not cowardly.If they pick pacifism out of belief that it will lead to the greater good,while not being cowardly the moment they realized that path will not lead to the greater good.Then no,that not cowardly.

Gadhi himself have stated that to preach non-violence,one must courageous in one beliefs.Not using it as an excuse to be coward and run away from problem.I rather you be a violent man,than a non-violence coward.Since if you're a violent man,at least you have the courage to stand up for your belief.While if you're a non-violent coward,then you're a lost cause.
