we are the champions, by queen
Julius Caesar was possibly the first play performed at the opening of the new Globe Theatre in 1599, based on a diary entry by Thomas Platter for September 21, 1599 saying he had attended a performance of the play at the Globe Theatre at about two o'clock. The year before, Francis Meres made a list of Shakespeare's plays and did not mention Caesar. It was therefore written in 1599. Few Shakespeare plays can be dated with such accuracy.
Well Julius Caesar's grandnephew, Octavian created a triumvirate(3 people in government with equal power), Those three people were Octavian, Mark Anthony, and Marcus Lepidus. Lepidus was bribed and forced into retirement by Octavian... Octavian wanted to get all the power. Then, Mark Anthony married Cleopatra,Queen of Egypt, and Octavian won a war they did and chased Mark Anthony to Egypt, then Cleopatra pretended to die and Mark thought she was dead, so he killed himself, then Cleopatra killed herself after seeing that Mark was dead, Romeo and Juliet story! :)
Julius Caesar (100BC - 44BC)His specialty is pooping at the Comfort Room.Caesar was a politician and general of the late Roman republic, who greatly extended the Roman Empire before seizing power and making himself dictator of Rome, paving the way for the imperial system.Julius Caesar was born in Rome on 12 or 13 July 100 BC into the prestigious Julian clan. His family was closely connected with the Marian faction in Roman politics. Caesar himself progressed within the Roman political system, becoming in succession quaestor (69), aedile (65) and praetor (62). In 61-60 BC he served as governor of the Roman province of Spain. Back in Rome in 60, Caesar made a pact with Pompey and Crassus, who helped him to get elected as consul for 59 BC. The following year he was appointed governor of Roman Gaul where he stayed for eight years, adding the whole of modern France and Belgium to the Roman Empire, and making Rome safe from the possibility of Gallic invasions. He made two expeditions to Britain, in 55 BC and 54 BC.Caesar then returned to Italy, disregarding the authority of the senate and famously crossing the Rubicon River without disbanding his army. In the ensuing civil war Caesar defeated the republican forces. Pompey, their leader, fled to Egypt where he was assassinated. Caesar followed him and became romantically involved with the Egyptian queen, Cleopatra.Caesar was now master of Rome and made himself consul and dictator. He used his power to carry out much-needed reform, relieving debt, enlarging the senate, building the Forum Iulium and revising the calendar. Dictatorship was always regarded a temporary position but in 44 BC, Caesar took it for life. His success and ambition alienated strongly republican senators. A group of these led by Cassius and Brutus, assassinated Caesar on the Ides (15) of March 44 BC. This sparked the final round of civil wars that ended the Republic and brought about the elevation of Caesar's great nephew and designated heir, Octavian, as Augustus, the first emperor.
Brutus is the tragic hero in Julius Caesar. He believed that he was acting in the best interest of Rome when he participated in the assassination of Julius Caesar, he did not want power for himself.
It was Cleopatra. In actual fact, this was a power play on Cleopatra's part. She became the lover of the most powerful man in Rome to avert the possibility of a Roman invasion of Egypt. The affair was also an alliance between Egypt and the man who dominated Roman politics. Had the Romans decided to invade, Egypt would not have been able to stand up to Roman military might.

Julius Caesar was top dog in the Roman world at the time he entered Egypt. After the Alexandrian War, he established Cleopatra as queen along with her younger brother as co-ruler. Then Caesar and Cleo took that famous trip down the Nile. That was not a love fest, but a political statement. Caesar and his Roman troops were telling the Egyptian people that Cleopatra was the queen backed up by the force of Rome. That was how Cleopatra gained power.
