You will need to be in tip top shape, do not eat unhealthy foods and exersize a lot. You will also need to be doing a lot of practise, for All Ireland level, at least an hour a day. It would help if you went to a good dance school that has good hard, fast steps that would stand out on a stage. Get some leg weights, use these when you practise, these will get you kicking higher and get your leg muscles stronger. Just do all of these and youll be winning all the time!
These are all things that you do need to be a good Irish dancer, but also don't forget determination, passion, and discipline. If you don't have even just one of those, it makes it a lot harder to get to the top. When you're interested in something it really makes it easier and more fun for you to do.
If by features you mean techniques, then there are tons of things you should do to get your maximum dance capability. You must turn out both feet. You must keep your knees crossed at all possible times. You must stay up on your toes. You must stand up straight with your back a line. You mustn't bend your knees unless included in a dance move.
These are the most important techniques you should constantly work on. I hope this helped you.

Irish dance is pretty simalar to those performing companies, but the performers are very high level and practice a lot. You can get to that eventually! Also, you don't always have to Irish dance in a group, plenty of dances are done solo. Other than that they are pretty much the same thing, but Irish dancers don't HAVE to perform.I know all this because I have been doing Irish dance for several years and have seen the River Dance. Neither. ISD is more formal and traditional. You keep your arms at your side and not at your hip.I should know. I do it. :) Irish Dance is more like River Dance but yes, it is neither.:D i do it also :P
yes they were, my parents came from Ireland. my mom was an Irish dancer when she was younger
