All children are different and individuals, and grow, develop and learn at different rates and speeds. Whilst some children are able to read complex sentences at the age of around 5, others are only able to read short and simple sentences. Practitioners need to take into consideration that children are all different.

Having knowledge also helps because you need to create a safeenvironmentfor children. You need to provide the correct activities andequipmentfor their age range and stage. You wouldn't give a coloring book and a pencil to a 1 year old, because they wouldn't be able to hold the pencil or draw.
