If the salt water fish were to be put in fresh water then their high salt content inside their bodies (to prevent too much salt diffusing into their bodies) will have it diffusing out down the concentration gradient; killing them. If the fresh water fish were to be put in salt water then their low salt content inside their bodies (to prevent too much salt diffusing out of their bodies) will have it diffusing in again down the concentration gradient; killing them.
Fresh water fish cannot adapt to the salt water because they grew up, or lived in fresh water! it is like a person who lived in the desert moving to Antarctica. They are not used to the environmental conditions in Antarctica! it is also the same with salt water fish living in Fresh water fish!
A saltwater fish tank can be half freshwater and all of the saltwater fish will live but not for very long.
Well, there are 2 types of fish, saltwater fish, and freshwater fish. Only put in saltwater if you own a saltwater fish. Note: Saltwater fish could live safely in freshwater, but freshwater fish will suffocate in saltwater.
NO! They are freshwater fish.
No they live in freshwater.
it is a freshwater fish.
It really depends on what fish you're studying. If you put a fish that lives in freshwater into saltwater, it will die. So your answer is, Freshwater Fish live in ponds, lakes, and freshwater rivers. Saltwater Fish live in oceans and seas. I hope this helps.
Saltwater I believe. You may want to double check though :)
Saltwater fish don't live in freshwater.
A liquid environment [ saltwater or freshwater ].
No, freshwater fish must be kept in freshwater and saltwater fish must be kept in saltwater. The one exception (that I know of) in nature is salmon which migrate from where they were born (freshwater) to the ocean and then back to where they were born again to breed.
A freshwater fish cannot be with a saltwater fish.It depends on the fish. Guppies are considered "freshwater" but will live happily in SW if properly acclimatized. Mollies are the same way.
It lives in both. It is primarily a saltwater fish but does adapt to live in strictly freshwater (not just brackish)
