The truth is just like every plant, all grass needs sunlight to grow. Zoysia can tolerate some shade, but it still needs sunlight, avg of about 4 hrs per day. Depending on where you live, there are different types of Zoysia (Meyer, Emerald, Empire). They are all beautiful and Zoysia is good for weed control. Hope this helps.
