∙ 12y agoThe largemouth is generally somewhat larger at maturity, and the mouth, when closed, extends beyond the back of the eye. Largemouth are more of a dark greenish color on the back, black lateral line, pale underbelly. Largemouth can tolerate warmer water.
The smallmouth's mouth, when closed, extends to the front of the eye. It is a bronze or brownish colored fish, with tiger like stripes on the flanks. Gnerally considered the better fighter of the two when hooked, although both species are excellent gamefish.
