The Winchester 1300 shotgun was first introduced in around 1981, when the US Repeating Arms Company (USRAC) took over production of the 'Winchester' brand guns from the Olin / Winchester Corporation. In fact, the model 1300 was a slightly modified version of the previous Winchester model 1200 shotgun, which was manufactured by Olin / Winchester between 1964 and 1980. The Winchester 120 Ranger was simply a model 1300 which was sold with a cheaper hardwood no thrills stock and fore grip on it. It was not based on the 1200 which would not shoot 3 inch shells. They were manufactured from 1986 till the beginning of 1988 and there were only 5000 made of them and they were targeted at the military and police sales. However thanks to Ducks Unlimited who bought hundreds to give away at dinners they ended up in the civilian market. Also Ford Motor company bought a few to give away with one of their new trucks. The Ford version had a medallion in the stock that said Ford Tough. After the company stopped the production of the model 94 and the 1300 and moved there production to Japan in 2006 values of Winchester rifles increased. The 120 which was the cheapest version of the Winchester shotguns increased the most to collectors due to the limited number of them made. All calibers seem to be going for the same prices. I have seen several go on Guns of America starting at $200 and go up from there. One new in the box 20 gauge sold for 1800 last March on their site. It belonged to a lady from Rockford Illinois who won it at one of the Ducks Unlimited dinners. Myself I purchased one last year in a 12 gauge for my daughter for $350 that was about 90% perfect. Many factors must be looked at when selling the overall condition of the gun. Has it been shot a lot? Is the bluing showing signs of getting thin or pitting? Is the stock and fore grip in good shape? Did it come with two barrels or one and if so what one is it? And most of all they will only bring what people are willing to pay.
