Violins and violas can both play a total of 24 notes. The 4 strings can each create 6 different sounds or notes. Playing the open string is one note, putting one finger on is a second note, playing a natural is the third, then putting on the second, third and fourth finger each add one other note.

That first answer is very incomplete and misleading!
Anyone who has progressed more in learning how to play the violin knows that, by placing the grip of your hand progressively further towards the bridge, you can play a lot more notes than just 6 notes per string!
On a violin, the lowest note is the open string 'G' below 'Middle C'. It is relatively easy to play the 'G' that is 3 octaves higher but a good violinist can play hundreds of notes much higher than that.
Some string instruments, such as the guitar or mandolin, have frets going across the fingerboard which allow only certain predefined notes to be played.
There are no frets going across the fingerboard of the violin, so - because each finger's position can be varied very finely - it is impossible to say exactly how many different notes can be played by a skilled violinist.
The first answer shown above could perhaps be trying to describe the notes played in what is called the "First Position" but is incomplete because it fails to mention:
After you have learnt how to play in 1st position, the next one to learn is the 3rd position, followed by the 2nd position and then the 4th.
There are several more positions after those first four, but you would have to achieve a very high standard of playing to be able use them...
yes and I play the violin..........
fast
By learning the notes.
You can play by ear, if you have super good hearing, but music sheet is better because you read the notes.
The best way is just to play the notes for the right hand on the violin. If it is too low to play, then you can't play it.
Because of the repetition of notes that are written here, it would be easier if one researched how to play this song and many others online.
You just play basically the same notes as on the piano.
There are tutorials how to play the violin. You can purchase the cds online and one of the sites offering this is http://play-violin.net. You can play like a master in due time.
I saw a video on youtube that showed how to play this song on the violin. I was actually wanting to learn how to play it too. I remember that it was not that many different notes. It was like G,D,C,and E but I don't exactly remember if those were the exact notes. Sorry but I hope that helped a little.
They're used for placing your fingers on so that you can play notes.
You do not need to know the specific violin notes. You can pick up any simple piano version of the music, and just play the notes on the treble stave. You could even just try to play it by ear. It will not take long to work out the correct notes.
Do you mean what notes with sharps can you play on the violin? You can play any note including the chromatics (sharps and flats) from its lowest pitch (G) to its highest limit (conventionally B). For contemporary music with unusual techniques, you can play all of the quarter tones, or notes between the notes of a chromatic scale.
