well, try using a large wad of cheese in a pink mesh net. Worms; i.e. night crawlers and earthworms might work. This species stay on the floor of rivers/ lakes so use a sinker. Rarely come up for food and swallow bait when they do bite, not nibble. *Bullhead nibble.* Seen during the day, hardly at night.

get a big hook put some chicken livers on it and get some 50 pound test line throw it out in the middle of the river and let it set at the bottom and wait
