No, that's routine maintenance and prevention. It's the responsibility of a homeowner to keep trees and shrubbery cut back far enough from your home to prevent intrusion and damage to the homes structure.

Answer

BTW, if the tree has damaged the roof, your rate may go up or the insurance policy dropped since you had a maintenance problem that you didn't resolve. If they could prove that you KNEW about the problem and did nothing to solve it, they might not have even paid the claim.

No. If you know that it is likely to fall on the house and it does, they will probably deny the claim because you should have taken care of it. But if a tree that appears to be healthy and solid should fall they will probably cover that damage.

You will have to check with your insurer.

Some policies cover the cost of debris removal while other policies cover the removal only if the tree caused damage to a covered structure. this is because occasional downed trees are considered a natural and expected phenomena.

You should also check the amount of your deductible. Often the cost of removing a tree is less than your deductible, in which case there would be no point in filing a claim on your home insurance policy.

It depends on the policy.

Most home insurance policies will cover storm felled trees only if the tree fell on and damaged the insured home.

If you just have a felled tree out on your property then there is likely no coverage. That is considered a maintenance issue.

No, Your homeowners insurance does not provide coverage for grounds maintenance, tree pruning, Tree removal, landscaping nor lawn care.

Grounds maintenance is the homeowners responsibility.

Failure to adequately maintain your home or property in a reasonable manner is negligence on the part of the homeowner and represents a "Moral Hazard" to the insurer and is grounds for policy cancellation.

Yes it does. All policies cover loss due to "wind". Although certain events may carry a higher deductible such as "Named Storm" or "Hail". Check your policy
