It would have to be a very well placed shot through the eye and into the brain, it is unlikely a .22 caliber bullet has the necessary force to go through the animals rib cage and into his heart. It is probably cruel to hunt such a large animal with a .22 rifle as there is a major chance it won't be killed and just injured.
Not the best way to hunt or kill hogs but yes you can kill a hog with a .22. I have done it once when I had no other firearm and hogs were tearing up my food plot.
Texas Bobcat here, It depends on where the hogs are, what you are planing, and what you have at hand. if you are trapping them and plan to hunt for more or diffrent game that night then a round between the eyes high dead-center, in the eye, or behind the ear at about 15 yards will do fine. If they are further away use .223. If the hogs are not traped then use .223. If hunting for hogs further than 85 yards plus use a .243 or greater. If You have a bigger gun then a .22. and am unsure of your shot then us the bigger gun.
Chanches are no. I have a Remington Model 770 in .243. I use it on Texas hogs all the time. It is extremely accurate and gets the job done.
I have killed countless numbers of wild hogs with a .22. The .22 caliber rifle is one of the most lethal guns made in terms of accuracy and the tiny bullett can cause some fairly severe damage once it has entered a body. I have killed hogs by shooting them in the head and behind the shoulder with .22's.JN
It is possible to kill a wild hog with a .223 caliber rifle, but it may not be the most effective choice due to the size and toughness of the hog. It's recommended to use a larger caliber rifle for hunting hogs to ensure a clean and ethical kill.
What couldn't you kill with a rifle of any kind? Of course you can kill a hog with an 8mm.
Shotgun with buckshot, 30 caliber rifle, etc.
I doubt it.
yes turkeys may only be harvested with a bow or shotgun
How small is small? You will need a larger caliber. Something like .25 cal. Also suggest you get a rifle not an gun. Select a hunting pellet (hollow point) with a much heaver grain. Hogs have thick skulls.
if he was hungry and and could take 1 out so he could kill it easier
Impossible to answer without knowing the terrain, size of hog and your abilities. I would recommend a high-powered rifle before even attempting to get near a wild hog. Wild hogs are very dangerous. They can severely injure or even kill an adult human.
Atticus shoots the wild dog roaming around the neighborhood with Heck Tate's rifle.
No never kill wild animals
No, not likely. The Benjamin Marauder .25 is an air rifle. While accurate to 100 yards, it pushes only 900 ft/lbs. It would be foolish to try to take down a wild boar, and likely wouldn't penetrate the hide of a hog or deer. Might be okay or squirrel or rabbit.
If you placed the shot right, then yes, it could. However, if I had to pick a round for that purpose, the .38 Special would not be it. If you're hunting wild hogs, or just trying to put down a domesticated one, you really need a rifle.
