Yes you can. In most locations around islands and shores the water is wade-able especially south around Lake Erie Metro Park. You can also hunt around Humbug Marsh and Humbug Island but it is a protected federal wet land and you cannot step foot on any dry land. Feet must be in water or no closer than the normal water depths indicated by water lines on the shore. You can also hunt in an area called airport bay on the south end of Grosse Ile. Typical hunting laws apply and you must be 450 feet for an occupied or other building (refer to MI DNR hunting guide). As for hunting north of Grosse Ile and Trenton I'm sure hunting is good but I'm not sure what the wading conditions up there. There is also another island near Ecorse that is part of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and I'm sure the same rules apply when it comes to hunting from land. Have fun and remember the current is very strong.
