Scio, scire, scivi, and scitum are Latin roots for 'to know'. Approximately fifty-percent of English words are derived from Latin.

There's no Latin origin of the English word 'knowledge'. The noun 'knowledge' is of English origin. But the Latin equivalents are 'notitia', 'prudentia', and 'scientia' in terms of the state of knowing. The Latin equivalents are 'disciplina' and 'doctrina' in terms of something that's acquired.

Well, where are "the following Latin roots"??

:)

scio means "I know" and intellego means "I understand".

and also, according to Google translate, cognosco also means "I know" and scientia means "knowledge".

by the way, nescio means "I don't know".

I'm not a Latin teacher, I just learn Latin at school and I like it.
