There are a couple of Spanish words similar to this one, but no such Spanish word. One is 'seres' which means beings. There is another one, seréis, which means you all[familiar] will be. Then there's serios which is an adjective that means serious [pl., masc.].
alumnos is another word that means "students". I find that it is usually used more when referring to younger students, however alumnos and estudiantes can be used interchangably. "como son los alumnos" is asking "how are the students" meaning, what is their personality like, how do they look, etc.
