To study medicine. it is not quite clear in the original novel whether Victor Frankenstein, admittedly a mad scientist- is actually a Medical Doctor, but the popular mind calls him Dr. Frankenstein. an oddity of the monstrous sort is the chance fact there is a town in Germany called Frankenstein- and amond other things it was the location of one of the police academies ( there were several, to minimize war damage) of the Waffen-SS was in this town, and weapons, etc detailed to this base were labeled Polizeischule Frankenstein- Police school- Frankenstein! training grounds for human monsters!- it is believed to have also housed the scientific investigation arm- such things as fingerprint analysis- crime labs, etc and detectives were trained here in new crime-detection skills.
