The French term for a relative in-law is the word "beau" in front of the relation: beau-frère, belle-sœur, beau-père, etc. The general term is belle-famille.

in French a son-in-law is "un beau-fils" (plural: "des beaux-fils"). The same word is used for a step-son.

The word "un gendre" is also in use (for son-in-laws only)
