It's been plated for use in jewelry or as a keepsake. All circulating half dollars struck since 1971 are made of copper-nickel and are only worth 50 cents.

The US Mint did not produce any dollar coins dated 1985, 1986 was the first year for the Silver Eagles. Please look at the coin and date again and post new question.
