You let it totally empty with pump OFF, then with valve to service closed, you switch pump ON till water comes to level of service pipe (usually about 1/10 full. ) Now switch pump off and fill the tank with 28 psi of air. How much to replace a fuel pump on a 2003 Chevy S10?
There is 2 way to change the fuel pump: 1: drain and drop the fuel tank, remove the 4 screws holding pump in place. 2: Dismount the bed from the frame, with a jack raise the bed apox 9 inches, now you can get to top of the tank, remove the 4 screws holding the pump in place, pull the pump straight up and out of tank, carfull not to let any dirt fall in tank, replace with new pump and gasket, lower bed back into place carefully, reinstall bolts and prime, and your done..

The fuel pump is located inside the gas tank. the easiest way to me to replace the fuel pump is to pull the bed off, now you will need help to do this. Another way which is much harder for me to do , is to drop the gas tank and change it out and put in back.

Where is the fuel pump on an 2000 chev pickup and how do you change it?
The fuel pump is in the gas tank, you will need to remove all the bed bolts on the driver side of the truck and loosen all the bolts on the other side of the bed and do not take them all the way out. unhook the wireing harnes by the back bumber also. then remove the 3 bolts on the filler hose were the gas cap is. now raise the bed up from the driver side high enough to get to the top of fuel tank. block the bed up so it won't fall on you. Unhook the battery. Now un plug the wireing harens where the rubber lines go into the top of the tank,now remove the rubber fuel lines from the tank. You will see a medal ring that holds the sending unit and pump in the tank. Tank a hammer and chisel and turn the ring counter clockwise until it comes loose. now lift the unit out of the tank. now follow instructions that come with new unit. Then put back together.

YES, Just loosen the passenger side bed bolts until they almost come out then stop. Then take the drivers side bed bolts all the way out. Unplug the wireing harness for the rear lights then raise drivers side of the bed up as high as it will go and then be SURE TO BLOCK / BRACE the bed so it won't fall on you. Now remove the fuel sending unit from the top of the tank.
You have the bed off your 96 k1500 and removed the lock ring but the hoses aren't long enough to raise it from the tank to change the pump now what?
disconnect the hoses I've found that it's easier to drop the tank.
