With the invention of the printing press people could get a book and read it. They didn't have to depend on the church or king to tell them about the world. It opened the door to ideas and thinking. They could write a book and tell others about their ideas, experiences, thinking, and to disagree with a government/king/church. When people can read/write/think they can't be kept slaves or enslaved.
The printing press was crucial in spreading information and ideas by making it easier, faster, and cheaper to produce books and pamphlets. This invention played a significant role in the spread of knowledge, literacy, and the Protestant Reformation by allowing for mass production of texts. It democratized access to information and helped shape the modern world.

The printing press mad it much easier to mass produce books and written communications. Rather than spending months or years writing books by hand to send to people the printing press made it much faster to produce large quantities of the same book and get that information into the hands of more people- thus spreading knowledge rapidly across the globe.
The invention of the printing press was important for a number of reasons. First of all the process made it possible to produce books quickly and cheaply. Secondly the printing press enabled a printer to produce hundreds of copies of a single work. Thirdly this process allowed even the poor to by a book because the printing press made the books cheaper. Lastly before the printing press there were mostly only religious works made and for a while that stayed the same but soon provided books on other subjects like travel guides and medical manuals.
In the late 1440s Johann Gutenberg developed printing by movable type. (Printing using wood blocks and so on was already well known).Note that printing by movable type was already known in Korea. He invented the printing press in 1454.Gutenberg did not invent the printing press, the printing press he used was a modified lithography press that already existed. What he invented was movable type, which greatly sped up the process of setting up the press for printing.
