What we measure by touching something is not an absolute temperature but merely a difference in temperatures and the difference is not noticeable when both hand and head belong to the same, high temperature person.

If someone's temperature is higher than yours you can conclude he might have a fever but if you touch your own forehead, the temperature would be the same as your hand so you might not be able to tell difference between the two.

∙ 12y agoWhen you touch someone else's forehead t test for temperature, what you're really doing is testing for the difference in temperature between your hand and their forehead. When you touch your own forehead, there's very little difference regardless of your temp.
