This is because the rotation of the moon is equal to it's orbit around the earth. That is: it takes the moon 28 days to make a full orbit around the earth, and 28 days to make a full rotation. As a result, the same side of the moon is always facing earth.

β 12y agoThe moon's rotation is synchronized with its orbit around Earth, causing the same side to always face us. This is known as synchronous rotation. As a result, we can never see the "back" side of the moon from Earth.

β 9y agoThe earth and moon are in tidal lock. The moon's period of rotation on its axis and period of revolution in its orbit around the earth are precisely equal. The earth's gravity bulges the moon so that earth grips along this side.
Wiki User
β 14y agoThe reason people on the Earth don't see the back of the moon is that the moon has a day the same length of time as its trip around the earth, this means we only ever see one side of the moon.
By the way I am saving up and intend to see the far side of the moon as soon as the site seeing trips start.

β 12y agoIf you mean the dark side of the moon then that's because, as the moon is orbiting around the earth; Luna (the moon) is spinning around its axis at a pace that matches the speed of it orbiting around the earth or in other words it spins so that only one side faces the earth.

β 12y agoThe moon revolves around the earth, and rotates on it's axis at the exact same speed, therefore allowing it to face the earth all the time.
When you see a waxing gibbous phase on the moon, it means that the moon is positioned between the first quarter and full moon phases. From Earth, you see the illuminated portion of the moon increasing in size, with more than half but not all of the moon visible.
Yes, every moon spins on it's axis while it orbits. The Moon which orbits Earth spins, but because it is orbiting us at the same time we can only ever see on face of the moon. That's why there is the Dark Side of The Moon. I think you can see roughly 50.8% of the Moon's Surface on Earth.
You can see all three of these. The phase of the moon when it is not visible is called new moon.
You see just that part of the moon that the sun is shinning on.
No, we cannot See the Moon when it is raining because the clouds will cover the moon and if the cloud is clear only we can see the cloud.
you will stand on the other side of the moon
No because otherwise the flag wont be blowing. when he landed on the moon
yeah but they wont be in the same orientation
no,
Certainly not in our lifetime.
once you beat him at the castle you wont ever see him
After the new moon, the part of the moon that is visible to us grows in size as it progresses towards the full moon phase. This phase is known as the waxing phase, during which the illuminated part of the moon gradually increases in size each night.
The Moon spins at the same rate that it orbits the Earth; once every 27 days. Because of that, the same side of the Moon always faces the Earth. Before the Soviet Luna space probes which took photos of the far side of the Moon, no one had ever known what it looked like. People of India cannot see the far side of the Moon? The People of EARTH cannot see the far side of the Moon.
Oh god you are so stupid. NO! watch any of the moon landing videos and you wont see a single rope. The moon has sufficient gravity to hold down a person.
the moon reflects sunlight back towards Earth. When the sun's rays hit the moon, it illuminates the surface, making it visible in the night sky. This phenomenon is why we can see the moon at night.
The moon does not disappear, but it goes through phases where it is not fully illuminated and may not be visible from Earth depending on its position in relation to the Sun.
No. You don't ever get to see the parents of the main character.
