Having a cage put in the lower lumbar back may be necessary as a treatment for conditions like spinal instability, degenerative disc disease, or vertebral fractures. The cage helps support the spine, restore proper alignment, and reduce pain and nerve compression in the affected area. It is typically recommended when conservative treatments have not been effective.
