It's actually due to the pressure inside of the earth. After acertainpoint ofpressurethe iron and nickel that makes up the inner core can no longer become liquid even though the heat produced is well above the melting point for iron.

This is because pressure increases as you go deeper into the earth. As pressure increases the melting point of substances found in the core decreases.

Is the core of the earth molten?

Part of it is. The outer core is molten while the inner core is solid.

Is the inner core molten?

No, the inner core of the Earth is solid due to high pressure despite being extremely hot. The outer core, on the other hand, is molten and composed mostly of iron and nickel.

Does the earth have large molten core?

Yes, the Earth has a large molten core composed mostly of iron and nickel. The outer core is liquid, while the inner core is solid due to high pressure. This molten core generates the planet's magnetic field.

What the central part of earth that consists of and inner and outer portion?

core: inner solid, outer molten. the mantle is also sometimes divided into lower & upper.

Is the inner part of the Earth melted rock?

No, the inner part of the Earth is mostly solid due to high pressure, although the outer core is composed of molten iron and nickel. The solid inner core is made up of mostly iron and nickel.

What is a layer of molten iron and nickel that surrounds the inner core of earth?

The layer you are referring to is the outer core. It is a liquid layer made up of molten iron and nickel that surrounds the solid inner core of the Earth. The movement of this molten outer core is believed to generate Earth's magnetic field.

Earth's solid inner layer is surrounded by the hot molten metal of which layer?

The Earth's solid inner layer is surrounded by the hot molten metal of the outer core. This outer core is composed mostly of iron and nickel, and its high temperatures and pressure give it the ability to flow in a liquid state.

How is the inner core and the outer core of the earth similar?

They are both made of iron and nickel. The only difference is that the outer core is molten whie the inner core is solid.

Which layer of the earth is completely solid?

the earth's inner core is solid, and the crust is solid, obviously, because we can walk on it.

Is outer core made of solid metal?

No, the outer core of the Earth is composed of molten metal, mainly iron and nickel. This molten state is due to the high temperatures and pressures found at that depth within the Earth.

What layer of the earth is made of molten iron and nickel that surrounds the inner core?

The outer core of the Earth is made of molten iron and nickel. It lies beneath the mantle and surrounds the solid inner core. This molten layer is responsible for generating the Earth's magnetic field through convection currents.

The center part of earth is made up of two parts the molten outer core and the what?

solid metal inner core
