Elements are arranged left to right, and top to bottom in order of their increasing atomic number(number of protons), order generally coinsides with the increasing atomic mass. The different rows of elements are called periods. The period number of an element signifies the highest energy level an electron in that element occupies (in the unexited state). The number of electrons in a period increases as one traverses down the periodic table; therefore as the energy level of the atom increases, the number of energy sub-levels per energy level increases. One can tell if an element is metal, non-metal, or semi-metal just by looking at the placement on the periodic table.

An element's placement on the Periodic Table provides information about its properties, such as its atomic number, Atomic Mass, and electron configuration. This arrangement helps scientists predict an element's behavior and characteristics based on its location in relation to other elements. Additionally, the periodic table organizes elements into groups and periods, highlighting similarities and trends in their chemical behavior.

Why is scandium on periodic table of elements?

Scandium is included on the periodic table of elements because it is a chemical element with unique properties, such as being a transition metal. It has an atomic number of 21, meaning it has 21 protons in its nucleus, which determines its placement in the periodic table. Scandium also has important industrial applications, such as in aerospace and electronics.

What is listed in the periodic table?

The periodic table lists all known chemical elements arranged by their atomic number, electron configuration, and recurring chemical properties. It provides a structured way to understand and predict the behavior of elements based on their placement in the table.
