In the northern hemisphere you can find north by identifying the north star, Polaris. With appropriate equipment you can measure its apparent altitude over the horizon, thus giving you your longitude.

Stars are not commonly used for navigation anymore because modern navigation systems, such as GPS, provide more accurate and efficient methods for determining position and course. These systems are not reliant on clear skies and visibility conditions, making them more reliable in various weather and lighting conditions. Additionally, traditional celestial navigation techniques require expertise and training that may not be practical for routine use in modern navigation.

You would need some knowledge in that, but it would be easiest to follow the north star(brightest star in the sky). Then if you needed to go south you would go the oposite way of the north star, etc

It isn't. Navigation by the stars is far more accurate than navigation with a compass, as magnetic north is different at different locations while north determined by the stars is the same at all locations.

Can satellite navigation be used to locate stars?

No, satellite navigation systems like GPS are designed to locate positions on Earth based on signals from satellites in orbit. To locate stars, astronomers use telescopes and star charts to study their positions in the night sky.

What happens when moths see an artificial light?

Moths are attracted to artificial light because they use natural light sources like the moon and stars for navigation.
