Because it's been cleaned with the wrong cleaner. Any oil-based or citrus cleaners or harsh cleaners may streak or leave a film on the floor - and show every footprint. Remember that Pergo is NOT WOOD, even if it looks like wood. It's made of laminate, the same stuff many countertops are made of. Plastic. Clean your Pergo with a cleaner made for laminate floors. Mist the cleaner on the floor or or onto a damp sponge mop or swiffer, then wipe clean. You may also use a vinegar/water solution or window cleaner, such as Windex.

Why does a carpeted floor feel different to your bare feel than a bare floor feels on a cold morning?

A carpeted floor feels warmer and softer because it provides insulation and cushioning compared to a bare floor, which tends to feel cold and hard due to its lack of insulation. The carpet traps heat, making it more comfortable to walk on with bare feet, especially in colder temperatures.
