Why does sugar dissolve easily in milk at room temperature?

Milk is mostly water, which is very polar. Sugar (sucrose) is also a rather polar molecule. So, polar compounds dissolve readily in polar solvents. That is why sugar easily dissolves in milk.

When sugar is added to milk after adding ice will it dissolve easily?

Why is it easier to dissolve icing sugar in water that it is to dissolve a sugar lump?

The icing sugar has a greater surface area than the lump and so the reaction occurs more easily with the icing sugar powder. This in general applies to many salts and soluble compounds.

What chemical makes a sugar cube dissolve?

Water is the chemical that dissolves a sugar cube. The water molecules surround the sugar molecules and break the bonds holding them together, causing the sugar cube to dissolve.

Why does not sugar dissolve in cold milk?

Even in cold water sugar will dissolve eventually, but it does dissolve faster in hot water. Hot water molecules move faster than cold water molecules and therefore can more easily break sugar molecules out of solid sugar and into solution.

What is the best way to dissolve the sugar?

The best way to dissolve sugar is by stirring it into warm water or any other hot liquid. The heat helps to break down the sugar crystals faster, allowing it to dissolve more easily.

Why do you stir ice tea after you put sugar on it?

Why does water dissolve sugar?

Because sugar is a polar molecule, which in other words means it can easily dissolve in polar solvents such as water. Water breaks the bonds between the sugar molecules, it does not break the bonds within the molecule.

Will sugar dissolve in acetic acid?

Yes, sugar will dissolve in acetic acid. Acetic acid is a polar solvent, and sugar is also a polar molecule, so they are compatible and will dissolve when mixed together.
