Why was standard time created?

Standard time was created to establish a consistent way to measure and track time across different regions, which was necessary for the coordination of transportation and communication networks, such as trains and telegraphs. Before standard time, each town or city would set its own local time based on the position of the sun, leading to confusion and inefficiency in scheduling activities.

How is standard time more useful than local time?

local timeThe time of a place when the midday sun is overhead is called local time.It changes from place to place. The place on the same longitude has the same local time.standard time The local time of the standard meridian of a country is called standard time.It remains same for that particular country.the place on the same longitude has the different standard time. The main difference between local time and standard time is, the local time changes from a place to place, but the standard time remains fixed for the particular country. As per local time, the place/location on the same longitude will have the same local time, but as per the standard time the place on the same longitude will have different standard time.

Why were stardardized time zones used in the US?

coz it was okay !!!! Standard time zones in the United States are currently defined at the federal level by law 15 U.S.C. §260. The federal law also establishes the transition dates and times at which daylight saving time occurs, if observed. It is ultimately the authority of the Secretary of Transportation, in coordination with the states, to determine which regions will observe which of the standard time zones and if they will observe daylight saving time. As of August 9, 2007, the standard time zones are defined in terms of hourly offsets from UTC.[1] Prior to this they were based upon the mean solar time at several meridians 15° apart west of Greenwich (GMT). Only the full time zone names listed below are official; abbreviations are by common use conventions. The United States uses nine standard time zones. From east to west they are Atlantic Standard Time (AST), Eastern Standard Time (EST), Central Standard Time (CST), Mountain Standard Time (MST), Pacific Standard Time (PST), Alaskan Standard Time (AKST), Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time (HST), Samoa standard time (UTC−11) and Chamorro Standard Time (UTC+10). What is 1 PM Pacific Standard Time in EST?

If it's 1 PM Eastern Standard Time, then it's 10 AM Pacific Standard Time. Eastern Time is 3 hours ahead of Pacific Time. Pacific Time is 3 hours behind Eastern Time. For future reference, the mainland U.S. has four time zones (Alaska and Hawaii each have their own time zones, which makes a total of 6 different time zones for the U.S.). From west to east, the mainland U.S.'s time zones are: Pacific Time, Mountain Time, Central Time and Eastern Time. Each is one hour later than the last. For example, if it's 3 PM Pacific Time, then it's 4 PM Mountain Time, 5 PM Central Time and 6 PM Eastern Time.
