Seismic activity triggers both earthquakes and volcano eruptions, so usually both happen along fault lines, which cause seismic activity.
Answer 2: They occur in similar areas because of plate tectonics, (plates of the lithosphere). Since they move, when they crash together they cause earthquakes and create volcanoes, when the plates slide past each other they cause lots of earthquakes, and when they move apart magma from the earth's core creates a volcano and earthquakes happen along the fault lines.
See http://www.cotf.edu/ete/modules/msese/earthsysflr/plates1.html for more info.
Earthquakes and volcanoes often occur in the same place because they are both related to tectonic plate activity. The movement of tectonic plates can lead to both volcanic eruptions and seismic activity, creating a connection between the two phenomena. Subduction zones, where an oceanic plate collides with a continental plate, are particularly prone to both earthquakes and volcanic activity.
this is because of platectonics volcanoes are formed when two plates underground crash into each other like this:
--><--
casung the ground above to form a mountain but volcanoes have the same procces but with the top plates and the plates closer to the core of the earth therefore causing a volcanoe an eruption is caused by a small tremor underground but not felt above
an earthquake in the other hand is when two plates hit and slide against each other these two natural desasters happen in mostly the same place because of where that exact place is situated, weather in beetween two plates like Haiti or around the middle of a plate like Canada.
Earthquakes and volcanoes are often found in the same area because earthquakes occur at plate boundaries, when plates are moving away from each other, being subducted under one another, or getting stuck while slipping past each other, and volcanoes also occur at plate boundaries, too, either convergent or divergent boundaries. At convergent boundaries, volcanoes typically are found on land, and at divergent, they are usually found in the ocean. Volcanoes can also be found in hot spots, NOT near plate boundaries, so this is why they are not ALWAYS found in the same areas.
Volcanoes are usually caused by a natural process in the earth's tectonic plates called subduction (where an ocean plate moves under a continental plate). The heat and pressure causes rocks to heat up and become magma, creating a volcano. The subducting of the ocean plate by snag on the continental plate, causing an earthquake.
no one knows for sure, but we can works out by looking at the landscape. there could be volcanoes, or lots of earthquakes could have taken place there, because most earthquakes happen on plate boundaries/margins (the edge of a plate). hope this helps!
Earthquakes occur near faults and near the edges of plates in the earth's crust. Volcanic eruptions occur wherever a volcano is. Volcanic eruptions can occur when magma from below Earth's surface seeps through a weak spot in the crust. Volcanoes occur along plate boundaries, along the edges of plates, so this is where volcanoes occur also.
Tsunamis can occur at any time of day or night, but they are more likely to happen following an earthquake or underwater volcanic eruption. Tsunamis are most common in the Pacific Ocean's "Ring of Fire." It is important to have an early warning system in place to mitigate the impact of a tsunami.

Earthquakes mostly occur in the eastern part of the Philippines along the Philippine Trench, where the Philippine Sea Plate subducts beneath the Philippine Plate. Regions such as Mindanao, Visayas, and Luzon are particularly prone to earthquakes due to their proximity to tectonic plate boundaries.
mostly California
Volcanoes usually form on plate boundaries. They form because the plates push upward against each other forming a small hole where magma can come out from the mantle. (the small hole is the where the magma comes out of on top of a volcano). Earthquakes usually are at faults lines and fault lines are near the plate boundaries. Since volcanoes and earthquakes happen usually at plate boundaries, they mostly happen in the same area.

Earthquakes and volcanoes, although sometimes related are not always found in the same place. Although you will always see earthquakes associated with volcanoes, an earthquake can occur without any volcanic implications. Earthquakes are most commonly experienced along the west coast of the United States as well as along the southern part of the state of Alaska. Although this is the most common place to experience earthquakes, they can happen anywhere throughout the United States. Volcanoes are also most common along the west coast of the United States (with the exception of southern and central California) as well as the southern part of Alaska. The central and southern parts of California although the most prone to earthquakes do not at this time have a heavy concentration of active volcanoes. The earthquakes in this area are driven primarily by the San Andres and sister fault lines.
Underground Earthquakes occur along fault lines. Volcanoes are all over the world but a good place to find one is in the Ring of Fire.

I don't know go ask your mummy!
We can't predict when an earthquake will happen, however: Earthquakes happen when tectonic plates 'slip'.

In a place that has had no earthquakes in the past.

There are mountains, deserts, and volcanos in the USA. Ex. Rocky Mountain Range, Siherra Dessert, and multiple volcanos can be found in Hawii. I would not count on finding them in any other place in the USA. Earthquakes do occur, though I can't tell you the happen often. They normally happen in the California area.
