Different climates in different regions are primarily determined by factors such as latitude, altitude, proximity to bodies of water, and oceanic currents. These factors influence temperature, precipitation, and overall weather patterns, resulting in a wide variety of climates around the world.

Imagine a torch is shining on a globe you're holding. The top and the bottom of the Earth are getting the least amount of light and the middle will be getting the most. The sun rays shine very strongly in the tropics giving out lots of heat, and very weakly in the Arctic and Antarctic so the Arctic and the Antarctic are very cold. Telling you this, you'd guess that the equator is the hottest part of the Earth. Well actually it's not because the Earth is at a tilt. The equator can be the hottest part of the Earth, but that will only be in the spring or autumn. In December, January and February, the Southern Hemisphere is closer to the sun than the Northern Hemisphere, so for the southern hemisphere it's summer and for the northern hemisphere it's winter. In June, July and August the Northern Hemisphere is closer to the sun than the Southern Hemisphere, so for the Northern Hemisphere it's summer and for the Southern Hemisphere it's winter. The Earth makes an orbit around the sun and it takes a whole year to complete its orbit, and that is the reason why we have winters and summers and springs and autumns. In April and October, the sun is on one side, so the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere's light will be fairly equal, but that doesn't mean that the western side of the earth gets less light than the eastern side of the earth, because the earth spins around, so different parts face the Earth. The part of the Earth facing the sun is in daylight, and the part facing away from the sun is in night time.
