∙ 13y agoTrue, if you're talking about the Northern hemisphere summer solstice, the one in June. In Australia and other places in the Southern Hemisphere, the "summer solstice" happens in December, and it's the ANTarctic that has the midnight sun.
If you're right at the Arctic Circle - for example, in northern Iceland or places in Scandinavia - the day of the summer solstice is the ONLY day of 24-hour sun, and on that day the Sun will dip just to the horizon and then start rising again. Very strange, if you're tired and jet-lagged as I was the first time I was there....

∙ 11y agoDuring the northern hemisphere's summer solstice, the region that will have light 24 hours a day is the Arctic Circle. This phenomenon is known as the midnight sun, occurring because of the tilt of the Earth's axis, which causes the sun to never fully set in areas above the Arctic Circle during this time of the year.

That depends on whether you are in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere. If you are in the Northern, then your winter solstice is the summer solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. If you are in the Southern, then your winter solstice is the summer solstice for everyone in the Northern Hemisphere.
