Beta is more stable. It is in the equatorial position. When glucose is in monomeric form this does not matter much but when polymerized. Alpha produces starch (OH Down) and Beta produces cellulose (OH UP).

Beta-fructose is more stable than alpha-fructose. This is because in beta-fructose, the OH group on carbon-1 is in the equatorial position, resulting in lower steric hindrance compared to alpha-fructose where the OH group is in the axial position. This makes beta-fructose less prone to mutarotation and degradation reactions.

Are atoms more stable when combined?

In general, atoms are more stable when they are combined with other atoms to form compounds because this allows them to achieve a full outer electron shell, which is a more stable configuration. Atoms tend to be more reactive when they have incomplete outer shells.

Valence electrons found where?

Valence electron are found in the outer shell of an atom. Depending on the number of valence electrons, the atom is more or less stable: fewer => less stable and more => more stable (inert). Stable = less likely to react with other atoms.

Why do you think are we less stable than four-legged mammals?

Humans balance on two legs. This is less stable than balancing on four legs. The more legs you can lean on, the more stable you are. Centipedes are really stable!
