Super-cooled liquidsA gas takes the shape of its container and fills it, as well. A liquid takes the shape of its container but doesn't fill it necessarily. A solid has a definite volume and shape and usually, but not always, exhibits a crystalline structure.

Solids that do not have a crystalline structure are sometimes called "super-cooled liquids" because liquids have no crystalline structure. Glass is a good example of a solid that has no crystalline structure.

Think of a glass of water (one cup for instance). When it is in the glass, it takes the shape of it's container. But if you were to spill the water, there is still one cup of water but it is in a new shape

Liquid. Liquids have a definite volume because they take the shape of their container, while gases do not have a definite volume or shape because they expand to fill the available space.
