Amber is fossilized tree resin, a thick material produced by a pine tree and oozed to help ward off bacteria, fill voids, and help heal injury from broken branches and other afflictions. The resin was eventually carried by water to deltaic deposits where it underwent chemical changes leading to its fossilization.

The name Amber is derived from the fossilized tree resin of the same name, which has been prized for its beauty and color since ancient times. It is thought to have originated from the Arabic word "anbar," which means ambergris, but the English name for the gemstone amber is believed to have come from the Old French "ambre" or "ambar."

Amber is used commercially in the jewelry and knick-knack business. Scientifically, it is a fossil of tree resin that may contain fossilized organisms, and traces of air which can be dated to a specific geologic time.

The colour amber or yellow is used as a caution indication. In control panels, that use lights to indicate status of connected loads, the amber light indicated that the equipment is in a standby mode. A green indicating lamp means the equipment is operating and red indicating lamp meant the equipment is turned off usually at a switch. The on - off disconnect switch has an auxiliary N.O. (normally open) contact, that when turned to the off position, closes the N.O. contact and turns the red indicating lamp on.

Inside amber are insects.

Since they are inside of it they are also fossilized in them too.
