If a subsance is applied to a cell that makes the membrane more permeable to ions, the interior voltage changes. If the interior voltage becomes more positive (say from Ð70 mV to Ð60 mV), this is called a depolarization. If the interior voltage becomes more negative (say from Ð70 mV to Ð80 mV) it's called a hyperpolarization.

∙ 10y agoIf a partially permeable membrane is replaced with a non-permeable membrane, no substances will be able to pass through the membrane. This will prevent the movement of molecules across the membrane and alter the osmotic balance between the two sides of the membrane. This could lead to changes in cell volume and affect cellular processes that rely on osmotic balance.
The Nucleus would be damaged. Apex
the cell membrane is not completely permeable. This allows substances in and out of the cell and only a few substances could get into the cell.If the cell membrane becomes permeable any substance including the bad ones will get in easily this could destroy the cell.
the nucleus would be damaged. according to apex. hope this helps.:)
Large molecules would be able to enter and damage the nucleus.
The nucleus would be damaged.
The cell would die as it couldn't maintain homeostasis.

Osmosis does not occur in dead cells as it requires a selectively permeable membrane to take place. In dead cells, the cell membrane is no longer intact, so osmosis cannot happen.
Large molecules would be able to enter and damage the nucleus.
No, osmosis is the movement of water molecules from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration through a selectively permeable membrane. It occurs at the molecular level and requires a semi-permeable membrane to happen. Osmosis cannot occur across a room.
it would die as harmful substances entered the cells. (APEX)
