What will happen in the future if we cannot slow climate change?

Current belief is that very little will happen in the next several hundred years, should global warming start up again.

The IPCC claims we could see about 1 mm of sea rise per decade.

Storms could get worse or better depending on which political group we are talking to. Currently we have not seen any real changes in these patterns. Hurrican Katrina, the poster child for political parties spouting the increase in storms, was neither abnormal or induced by any unusual issue.

Hurricanes are not a product of temperature. They are a product of a difference in temperature.

The oceans are still cooling according to all available raw data. The Southern Hemisphere is still gaining ice overall, not losing ice as claimed by some groups. The 4% ice loss in te Northern Hemisphere was p[redicted by Milankovich (see Milankovich theory) in 1917 without using any funny CO2 data.

Most importantly though is the lack of warming now occurring. The planets current cycle started 10,200 years ago. Since then the planet has warmed 11 degrees C. Since man started burning fossil fuels we have seen 0.2 degrees of warming. MOST warming has occurred before WW2 despite the supposed increases in GHG. Man produces only a very tiny sliver of this gas (less then 0.3%)

Well, first of all, we can't. Can't slow climate change, that is. Because it's not under our control, despite what the climate change alarmists are telling you.

Second, "climate change" is too general a term, and is thus meaningless. The climate is changing all the time, in all directions, regardless of what humans are doing.

Third, what you're really talking about is slowing global warming. And we don't have to slow it because it has already slowed itself, without our help. In fact, it has not only slowed, but stopped, and according to some people REVERSED itself.

Fourth, if, somehow, we could force global warming to continue at the pace that it was going in the 1980s and 90s, and to warm 2-3 more degrees C, and stay there, that would be nothing but good for mankind. Agricultural yields would increase significantly, while acreage suitable (warm enough) for farming would increase drastically, possibly doubling agricultural production. Though we might lose a few thousand acres to rising sea levels, the total land area suitable for human habitation would increase by tens of millions of acres, as vast areas of Canada and Siberia warm enough for humans to live. Contrary to the theories of alarmists, disease would DECREASE, as people are able to spend more time outdoors, where viruses and bacteria find it harder to spread from one person to another. Deaths from cold-weather-related causes would decrease by far more than any increase in deaths from warm-weather-related causes. Wild plants and animals would increase in population. In short, even if global warming WERE still happening, it's a GOOD thing, not a bad thing.

If we cannot slow climate change, we can expect more frequent and severe extreme weather events, rising sea levels leading to flooding and displacement of communities, loss of biodiversity affecting ecosystems and food security, and increased health risks from heatwaves and air pollution. Overall, the impacts will be widespread and detrimental to both the environment and human well-being.

For climate change it is predicted that in the (near) future it will become increasingly warmer here on earth and some scientists even go as far as saying that the poles will then melt causing catastrophic flooding on land. Non-Speculative Response: Some will take the space as an opportunity to bang the "global warming" gong. The truth is that while the highly speculative global warming hype describes a form of climate change, not all climate change is global warming. As little as a generation ago, climate scientists were crying warning of the dangers of imminent global cooling, and ascribing a variety of human activities that hastened the doom. While the doom-criers have changed their lyrics, the tune remains the same. Let's hold on and see what they come up with in another ten to fifteen years. The other undeniable fact is that climate change is the constant on good, old mother Earth. We don't know what's coming. We can't read the past all that clearly, so soothsaying isn't going to be more accurate.
