What were the advantages and disadvantages of Sumers natural environment?

The advantages were the two rivers, the Tigris and the Euphrates. The disadvantage was the hot desert climate. The only way to grow food their was using irrigation, but that slowly polluted the soil with salt until the soil could no longer support crops, and the early Mesopotamian civilizations fell apart.
