Creationist View

God created it in the beginning.

And despite, the general scientific consensus otherwise, there is no evidence that this has ever happened or could conceivably happen. In fact the known factual scientific evidence including especially Genetics, Biochemistry and the Second Law of Thermodynamics, together with the Law of Biogenesis are all dead against it 'making itself.' This is scientific nonsense and pure fiction.

In particular, water itself is destructive of the very components which make up the cell. Once, however, water is 'under control' inside the cell it is beneficial. However it dilutes and destroys the elements necessary for the cell to form and so it is impossible for this cell to form of itself in the first place.

A Scientific View:(Dr Krishnagopal)

Life on the earth has originated from primordial membranes. This is the sequence of events.

  1. First the hydrocarbon molecules formed and in watery medium became bi-layered membranes.
  2. A biological big bang occurred which imparted electrical potentials across these membranes. These membrane potentials represent consciousness even now.
  3. Formation of 'Phantom cells' from membranes which started metabolism inside them. This gave rise to organic molecules.
  4. Formation of 'True cells' happened gradually. The need to execute repeated tasks resulted in DNA/RNA formation through 'molecular etching'.

The three major divisions of single celled organisms are the archaea, prokaryotes, and eukarotes. Eukaryotes have nucleated cells. Therefore either the archaea or prokaryotes must have originated first. Which came first remains unknown.

Tradition states that cells (and other living things) were created, not evolved. You need DNA to make DNA. No genetic code can be demonstrated to have arisen by chance, together with the ability to read that code and carry out its instructions. Information does not arise spontaneously; and there is an incredible amount of information in even the tiniest cell.
"A living cell is so awesomely complex that its interdependent components stagger the imagination and defy evolutionary explanations" (Michael Denton, author).
"The astounding structural complexity of a cell" (U.S. National Library of Medicine).
Concerning a single structure within a cell: "Without the motor protein, the microtubules don't slide and the cilium simply stands rigid. Without nexin, the tubules will slide against each other until they completely move past each other and the cilium disintegrates. Without the tubulin, there are no microtubules and no motion. The cilium is irreducibly complex. Like a mousetrap, it has all the properties of design and none of the properties of natural selection" (Michael Behe, prof. of biophysics).
