∙ 9y agoNo, Globular clusters are characterized by the fact that they are not forming new stars. The fact that they are not and have not formed new stars for some time (they are made of "Population II" stars) can be seen by looking at a Hertzsprung-Russell diagram for a Globular cluster.

∙ 11y agoAstronomers tend to think so. Ellipticals and the core regions of spiral galaxies are poor in dust, so the assumption is that evolving stars have swept it up. By contrast, the arms of spiral galaxies are dust-rich, and this allows new stars to form.
