It is when there is something that is affecting you and your reaction to it. It is the kind of same as a cause and effect. For example when I am cold, that is a cause also a stimuli, and response is that I shiver. My response and effect.

What is the all or nothing response of local response?

It's just a way of saying that a neuron (or sensory cell) can either (only) respond or not respond (depending on the strength of the stimuli). Which is why your nervous system is said to be pulse modulated rather than amplitude modulated. OR A strong stimuli results in more pulses, not stronger pulses.

What is the difference between a response to a stimulus and an adaptation?

If you place an electrode onto a muscle and the muscle contracts, that is a response to stimuli. An adaptation is the result of the evolution of a species to better suit its habitat. For example a snake is able to produce venom.

What is the state of impaired awareness in which the mind and senses are dulled to environmental stimuli?

A state of impaired consciousness marked by a lack of response is known as being unconscious.

What are automatic responses to certain stimuli?

Automatic responses to certain stimuli also known as conditioned responses occur when a certain stimulus is paired with an involuntary response. An example of this is Pavlovs famous experiment with dogs where he paired the ringing of a bell with the presentation of food. Over time the dogs learned to salivate at the sound of the bell even without the food being presented. This is an example of a conditioned response.Other examples of automatic responses to certain stimuli include: Fear response a person may freeze or become panicked when they hear a loud noise Gag reflex a person may reflexively gag when presented with certain tastes or smells Startle response a person may jump when a sudden loud noise is heardAutomatic responses to certain stimuli are a form of learning and can be beneficial in certain situations such as when a person has a fear of loud noises. By pairing the loud noise with a calm response the person can learn to become desensitized to the noise and no longer experience fear.

Compare and contrast stimulus and response?

A stimulus is any event or input that evokes a response, while a response is the reaction or behavior triggered by the stimulus. Stimuli can be internal or external, while responses are the observable reactions to stimuli. In summary, stimuli initiate responses, and responses are the reactions to stimuli.

Abnormal activity or lack of response to normal stimuli is called?

This condition is referred to as sensory overload or sensory deprivation, depending on whether there is an excessive amount of stimuli or an absence of stimuli causing the abnormal response.

What is a response that feeds back to reverse the changes caused by the original stimulus?

Negative feedback is the response to changes in stimuli that reverts the change back to the normal stimuli.

Response is to stimuli as reaction is to?

Response is to stimuli as reaction is to trigger. A reaction is an action taken in response to a trigger or stimulus, showing a direct cause-and-effect relationship. Just as a response is elicited by a stimulus, a reaction is elicited by a trigger.
