What is the purpose of the rivet set and snap?

A rivet set is a tool used to seat the rivet while drawing the material to be joined together to eliminate any voids or spaces between the head of the rivet and the materials to be joined. Some rivet sets also have an indentation to assist in both initially deforming the rivet to "set it" and to assist in the final shaping, though in days of old the tool that was used for the final shape of a rivet was also sometimes referred to as a snap. But in another time a snap was what a round head rivet was called. This all, of course, was just to add a bit of generational confusion.

How do you replace the inside door handle on Chevy Suburban 1999?

First you have to pry off the triangle piece of the panel by using a flat head screw driver, do this by prying it from the bottem up. Then, take out the 2 screws in the door handle. Sometimes this is done easier with a drill because those screws can be pretty tight. After that start prying the door panel out of the body with a flat head screw driver or a crow bar. Start from the bottem of the panel and work your way to they top. It will make a pretty terrible sound when your pulling them apart but don't worry, that's normal. Then you can lift the panel strait up once all of the pop rivets are out. The next step requires a rivet gun so make sure you have one handy. Once the panel is off there are 2 bolts and a rivet holding the handle to the body. Grind or cut off the rivet. Then disconnect the rods going to the back of the handle that allow the door to open, this can be a little but of a pain. Then just stick the new handle in put a new rivet in there (of you cant find a rivet any old bolt that can fit in there will work) and reconnect the rods and snap the panel back on. Hope this helped and good luck!
